Ah...the trip to Tampa was worth it. Bainick was unable to do the cohost today, on the account that he only got one letter, and I have a total of one -other- letter, bringing it to a total of...2 letters, for those of you who aren't mathematically inclined. Well, there was a letter complaining about the fact that I didn't post yesterday. Sorry, but empty columns don't get many readers.
Anyway...I suppose I should go ahead and give you guys the news - I'm quitting the Q&A position after THONG is over. I've enjoyed my time here, but it's just so damn time-consuming, that it really interferes with the little free time I actually have. Apart from that, the fact that I will undoubtedly be deployed in the future will put a halt to columns, if I stayed on. Other than that, there were some good times, but working for a fan site is a thankless position, and as much as I like giving you guys the answers you need, I need to work on getting my Master's degree, possibly a Ph.D, my CCNA and CCNP certifications, not to mention focus on actually doing my 9-5 job. This was fun, but I've got higher aspirations than all of this.
I'll still be on the site, working Content, making sure that everything is running in the background, but that's relatively easier as far as time constraints are concerned. ^^
I hope you all had fun with my columns and contests, and I'm sure that you'll see me around here (people need subs for column hosts!) in the future.
But enough of that crap, let's get to the letter (not a typo)!

Hey there.. It's Otaku Nick here.. And i've come to rant, yes folks Nick is in rant mode. As I said before I'm a game reviewer aswell as an anime reviewer well.. My rants begin here.. Why is it that every good game i see coming out in japan rpg or not with few exeptions don't come out in america. I begin with a simi rpg series called Another Century Episode. There are 2 of these gems. I imported both. They are great, far as i can tell since my japanese sucks worse than the gba dbz rpg's. But imagine a world where gundam nadessco and macross intermix.. the storylines and the characters. With huuuuge plot points from the different anime. It originally sounded like a load till i played and its a decent set of games. Now i point out many others such as .hack//fragment.. i mean.. a REAL MMORPG based in "The World" where you are playing the game simulated in the other games.. and anime.. and ova.. and manga.. with as mmo crazy the us is... i myself having accounts with guild wars WOW and SWG.. Yeah i'm a star wars geek.. wanna fight about it? :D but anyway. I imported it and played the single player.. though its not any different than playing .hack//gu you could atleast create your own character and choose a class other than thief/rogue. Not bringing it here that was a serious undersight.. i just hope they do bring it out when gu finishes.. if they ever release it... I'VE BEEN WAITING SINCE BEFORE CHRISTMAS BANDAI!!!! I know they've had the voices down since well.. forever.. they would have just had everyone sit down and do all they're lines for all 3 games.. they're sitting on it at this point.. i want it now before i lose interest.. though i doubt i will.. i'm a reviewer.. even if i don't care anymore i'll still play it.

RPGs are still relatively niche in America. While it's becoming more and more widespread, most RPG companies still try to play it safe when they choose what games to bring over here. The same is said for anime. Anime lovers are an even smaller demographic in the States than RPG players! I, for one, enjoy anime, but I really couldn't give an anime RPG (like Gundam, DBZ, etc.) a second look. Why? Because I like to watch my anime, and generally playing them tends to take some of the wonderment away from me.
Now, go make a Venn Diagram. You know, those weird things you drew in elementary school. Draw a circle for RPG players, and a slightly smaller circle for Anime watchers, and overlap them somewhat. If you notice, the resulting overlapping area is quite a bit smaller than the other two areas alone. In Japan, this isn't that much of an issue, but over here, some things are a bit more taboo than others.
And don't worry, rants are most welcome! That's what we're here for! :)
